The Ocean Currents… by Giorgio Tartaro

Thousands of written words and hundreds of hours of broadcast related to all things design. That’s Giorgio Tartaro’s world, a professional journalist, that has been working for many years now on communication projects in the field of architecture and design. Milano Design Week? We’ll leave the floor to him…

Have you ever witnessed those marvelous simulations of the ocean currents? Whenever I happen to watch them on social networks I just can’t resist, I dream of travelling those lands brushed by random whirlwinds and governed by internal and external forces.

That is for me the perfect metaphor to describe the flow of people that animate the Milan Design Week.

Astonishing numbers, whether participating in the exhibition or just being in town. Although, it must be said that whenever there is a kitchen related exhibition, the numbers are slightly higher.

What is certain is that recently the participation records are broken every two years. As a matter of fact the city welcomes hordes of operators, students, journalists, the curious, tourists who seek beauty…

Even Giorgio Armani has several times declared that the Design Week is an essential reference point for the city’s life. And we are all pleasantly involved in it.

Returning to the initial metaphor, the currents, the flows, the groups of people, always more informed and always more hungry for innovation and gems, spread out in an orderly manner, in the conscious, area-based process of visiting the Fuorisalone, participating at conferences (in the right amount), having fun at the numerous parties and the long aperitifs that editors, companies and individual design protagonists stage during the coolest week of the year.

A beautiful and interesting participation was that of Franke, during the Talks organized by the Icon Design magazine, at the very new Microsoft House, offering some true keynote recorded lectures by Dror Benshetrit and Bruno Barbieri, as well as so many other detailed studies or simple chats that I had the honour to moderate, Space&Interiors, live TV coverages and so much more.

My point of view must be a very unusual one, as always, but I have to give it, as it allows me to unite work with having fun, curiosity for new professional encounters and developing relationships.

A lively, sparkling, tiring but necessary week.

And what about the trends, you’ll ask?

In short. So much substance, always more refined and cultured, either in the grand references as in the correct productive process, a lot of soft and friendly technology, increased awareness and the necessary willingness and confirmation of being in awe.

Semiprofessional faucet with flexible tap Frames by Franke

Water is one of the most important ingredients in the kitchen: the Frames by Franke faucets make sure that all runs to perfection.

Telescopic floor hood

This hood becomes invisible when not in use. When needed, it can be lifted to the required height by simply pressing one key. The aspiration intensity automatically adjusts itself to the hob’s intensity, ensuring an efficient dissipation of all vapors.
