Amazon Go is a revolutionary shopping system that in a few years time will probably spread all over the world. Launched by the American e-commerce giant, it will allow us to do our shopping in shops where no money is used, and no one has to cue up at cash-desks or pull out their wallets. Does that sound impossible? It’s not: it’s the future knocking on our door.
If you’re already used to the comfort of shopping on Internet, receiving your purchases at home or at work, get ready to change! When Amazon Go arrives, we’ll return to shopping in the supermarket, but in an entirely new and rapid way.
Amazon, the biggest online shop in the world, will invite us to leave our homes and GO to supermarkets to do our shopping. But with a big difference: in the supermarket there’ll be no cash desks, so we won’t have to waste time queuing up to pay.
The consequences are revolutionary, as you can see if you look at the massively googled Amazon Go video… but you won’t be watching science fiction. The first Amazon Go supermarket already exists, opened last December in Seattle. For the moment it is open only to the American company’s own personnel. But if this test phase goes well, 200 zero-cash-desk supermarkets are planned to open in the USA.
